A bit of history:

The word Cayra, Caria or Queyries has been used since the Middle Ages to refer to the vast marshland that stretched out at the foot of the hillsides of Cenon and Lormont, made up of alluvial deposits, planted with oseraies and then with vines from the 14th century onwards.

At the time of the construction of the bridge, there were still only country estates.

At the beginning of the 21st century, the area bordered by the Quai des Queyries was completely redeveloped around a botanical garden and a promenade along the banks of the Garonne.
