A little history :

In 1954, lane 1 in the Benauge housing estate was named after Raymond Poincaré (1860-1934). This lawyer and liberal republican had a very long political career. Appointed to various ministries from 1893, he left his name to the 1896 law on universities. He was Finance Minister in 1906, and chaired a Union Nationale cabinet in 1912 where he also managed Foreign Affairs. In 1913, he was elected President of the Republic and strengthened the Entente Cordiale with England and the Franco-Russian Alliance.
