A little history :

Extension of the Quai de Bacalan to the north. Since the early 19th century, warehouses and workshops have sprung up along this main artery of the district: boat-building, biscuit factories, blacksmiths, boilermakers, sugar refineries and distilleries, the largest of which were the Ateliers de Bacalan, which became the Compagnie de l'Océan.... in 1863.
