A little history:

The term Cayra, Caria, or Queyries has been used since the Middle Ages to refer to the vast marshland that stretched out at the foot of the hills of Cenon and Lormont, formed by alluvial deposits and planted with osier beds and then vineyards from the 14th century onwards. At the time the bridge was built, there were still only country estates in the area. At the beginning of the 21st century, the area bordering the Quai des Queyries underwent a complete redevelopment around a botanical garden and a promenade along the banks of the Garonne.
